The crew (or deckie) is that hard working person who serves drinks, lunch, and snacks, rigs up the tackle, puts on your bait, gaffs and cleans your fish, changes the music or TV channel and ultimately washes and cleans the boat. The boat crew, selected and trained by the skipper, is competent in handling the boat navigating and fishing techniques. The skipper and crew usually have a long working relationship and to watch them work as a team on a shoal or in the critical moments while landing a big fish, is an incredible sight
We have a range of professional guides with over 40 years experience in the Western Cape. Each guide is selected for his knowledge and expertise of the specific sphere of fishing being undertaken. Whether you want to catch beautiful wild Rainbows and Browns in spectacular freestone mountain streams, aggressive large and small mouth Bass in one of the picturesque Cape lakes or chase the many shore species along the coast, our guides give you the trip of a life-time.
Guiding for Saltwater species is a specialty in which we have developed techniques and skills gained over years of saltwater angling. Our guides understand the habits and natures of the target species and are able to locate and spot fish with regular success. Wading in the rolling surf, casting to a frenzied shoal of game fish or stalking along the lagoon sandbar, you will enjoy some of the most exciting and prolific saltwater fly-fishing in the world.
Our boats are equipped with the latest rods, reels, lures and tackle. The client is welcome to bring their own equipment and this is encouraged if the search is for world line-class record fish. For the serious angler we cater for all IGFA line classes from 2kg through to 34 kg. Should a specific line class be required for the day, we need to be advised in advance.
Our reels, Penn International and Shimano TLD series, are of the lever drag type to stand up to the punishment of a big fish. Lines are checked and changed after each days fishing and all rods and reels are thoroughly serviced on a monthly basis. Lure manufacturers worldwide often use our boats to test their new designs and developments. We are therefore able to fish the very latest in lure technology giving our clients that extra edge.
All tackle is rigged in advance by the crew and constant changes are carried out during the day should the need arise. The crew prepares baits, chum (burley) and traces on route to the fishing grounds so fishing begins as soon as we arrive.
